DEFEAT put a dampener on Kidderminster Victoria County League firsts' visit to Netherton as they went down in wet and windy condition.

Having lost Aussie Kyle McAllister early on, inexperienced Kidderminster slumped to an alarming 18-5 and had to rely on a 96-run stand from 16-year-old Andy Kimberlin and James Manley to give them any hope.

With Kimberlin being dismissed for 45 and Manley for 36 useful runs down the order helped them post a respectable 161-9.

Simon Cooke and Banister claimed two wickets each, but despite some encouraging fielding from KVCC they were unable to stop Netherton getting home at 162-6.

KVCC County League seconds were beaten by Netherton by six wickets. Kidderminster batted first, with Jason Sherwood hitting 18, but were all out for 74. Netherton scored 50 for the first wicket, though Phil Pountney took 3-4.
