COOKLEY got some self-respect back after the previous week's embarrassing 53 all out by batting out for a creditable draw in their Division Two match at Coombs Wood.
The visitors restricted their Halesowen-based opponents in the first half of their innings but the home side accelerated and finished with 216 on the board.
Lee Shewry and Kiwi John Blakely looked comfortable when Cookley batted until Blakely miscued an intended hook and was well caught by the Coombs Wood keeper running backwards.
When Shewry was out for a patient 36 any hopes of a Cookley win receded, particularly as wickets began to fall but John Martin and Stu Nicholls steadied the ship and saw Cookley to a respectable 166-6 to earn a losing draw.
The second team were well beaten at Lea Lane. Cookley compiled a total of 169-9 but it was unlikely to test the visitors, and they reached their target for the loss of two wickets.
