STAR Batsman Neil Fletcher helped Cutnall Green to open their Worcestershire County League Division Four campaign with a winning draw against Tenbury.

Fletcher started his season with an amazing 194no, to show he means to carry on where he left off last season, when he hit several centuries and was easily the league's highest-scoring batsman.

l THERE were mixed fortunes for Stourport in their opening League matches against Amblecote and Wollaston.

The first team won by nine wickets in Division Three, with the seconds being beaten by 19 runs in the 2nd XI Division Three.

The firsts won the toss at Walshes Meadow and asked their visitors to bat. A Bingham made 46 in Amblecote's total of 181-7, with Ben Champkin the pick of the bowlers, claiming 5-11 in his nine-over spell.

In reply Stourport never looked in danger, and cruised to the total in the 32nd over for the loss of just one wicket. Richard Savery made 35, Bevan Neill 75no and Champkin 55no.

Stourport seconds put up a lack-lustre performance against Amblecote and Wollaston at at Kinver, where they had put the home side into bat. Amblecote struggled against the Stourport bowling, reaching 118-7 in their 44 overs, with M Bullock making 40.

In reply Stourport never looked like making the target and at 53-9 were in trouble. The last wicket stand provided a glimmer of hope but the innings folded in the 39th over at 99 all out, M Spooner taking five wickets for the hosts.
