KIDDERMINSTER Victoria will begin the defence of their 2nd XI title in the Fearnley Factory Shop Worcestershire Sunday Club Cricket League this weekend.

The league, which has a new sponsor, is in its sixth year and features Kidder-minster, Bewdley and Chaddesley Corbett from the Wyre Forest area.

Kidderminster and Bewdley have teams in the 1st XI and 2nd XI competitions, while Chaddesley also have a side in the 1st XI.

The league prides itself on having kept Sunday cricket alive in the county in recent years and for allowing clubs from different leagues to renew traditional rivalries. It also acts as a platform to develop young cricketers from the under-13 to under-17 age groups to help them make the transition form 20-over to 45-over cricket.

Each club is asked to select five or six under-17s in their 2nd XI.
