DIANE Rayner has taken the reins as leader of Malvern Hills District Council.
Coun Rayner, who has been involved in local government for nearly 30 years, was elected at a meeting of full council on Tuesday. Outgoing leader Tom Wells said: "It's been a wonderful honour and privilege to serve the council in this post and to serve the residents of Malvern Hills, but I've decided it's time for me to stand down as leader."
"Di has made an immense contribution to life in Malvern and it's right and proper that she should now go forward as leader of the council."
Coun Clive Smith was elected deputy leader, while Val Myatt took up the role of chairman and Julia Wilding as vice-chairman.
