STREET hip hop comes to Birmingham's Hippodrome Theatre next week when "fresh and funky" French dance troupe Compagnie Kafig present Corps est Graphique.

Part of the theatre's 2005 Wide World International performance season, Compagnie Kafig features eight dancers who "combine hip hop with stylised French, North African and Andalucian choreography to stun audiences with a heady mix of breakneck moves and grooves, mime, gymnastics and contemporary dance".

Mourad Merzouki, who brought his knowledge of circus skills and martial arts to his role as artistic director, founded the troupe in Lyon in 1996. Now at the forefront of the French international hip hop dance scene, Mourad brings together dancers "who serve up a breathtaking performance featuring film and light installation, and fast and slinky moves".

Compagnie Kafig perform on Tuesday and Wednesday, May 17 and 18 at 8pm. Performances last one hour with no interval. Tickets, priced £10-£15.50, are available on 0870 730 1234 or online at www.birminghamhippodrome.com
