A VIDEO and distribution business is hoping Malvern Hills chiefs will allow it to use outbuildings on its premises for storing video tapes and DVDS.

Kate Preston, who runs Double Vision Video Ltd at Halfkey Farm in Halfkey Road, Malvern, has applied to Malvern Hills District Council to allow it to use a double garage on the site for storing the items.

The company - which Mrs Preston manages with her dad John Griffiths - supplies blank media for occasions such as weddings and promotional material for organisations such as universities. The application site is in open countryside in an area designated as an Area of Great Landscape Value.

The business has been running for six years and previously the items were stored at Mrs Preston's husband John's business H Preston Professional Video, in the town's Worcester Road.

However, she is now hoping to seek permission to store the videos on site so she can juggle work with looking after her children.

An application is also with the local authority to change the use of the pump house on site and store for a work space. The scheme also involves a covered walkway being built between the house and the pump house as well as a toilet being installed.

One resident has raised concerns with both schemes about traffic generation from the site and Malvern Town Council has yet to comment.

But planning officers are recommending both applications are approved, as they say they are in accordance with development policies.

They are due to be determined at a meeting at Priory Lodge Hall in the town's Avenue Road at 7pm on Wednesday, May 18.
