YOUNGSTERS in Worcestershire are finding learning lots of fun thanks to a donation to a toy library from the Co-Operative Group.

The Malvern-based Borrower's Toy Library, in Sixways Trading Estate, Barnards Green, is a toy lending service for parents, playgroups, foster parents, nurseries and special needs groups.

The group, which was recently awarded £1,000, has used the cash to buy cot toys and mobiles, activity boards, sorting boxes, activity arches, musical toys and walkers.

"This donation from the Co-op has been a tremendous help to the library and we've bought lots of new equipment which has both enhanced the service and benefited the children, who are delighted with the new toys," said co-ordinator Sue Rogers.

"The library isn't just for families in Malvern, we also have a mobile service which visits six areas in the county each month so many more people can use the service."

The donation comes from the Co-op's Community Dividend fund, part of its customer loyalty card scheme, which allows shoppers to donate the extra pence in their twice-yearly dividend payouts to worthy causes.

Approximately £100,000 is available annually to support charities and community groups in the region.
