BADSEY made a fabulous start to the new surroundings of Division Five of the Worce-stershire County League when they accounted for Hallow in emphatic fashion.
The sides finished first and second in the sixth division last summer and it was the champions who again led the way with a solid show with both bat and ball.
Opening bowler, 15-year-old Sam Thomson, took 3-24 from nine excellent overs helping to clean bowl the top six batsmen with help from Nick Powell (2-23) and Emerson Paul (1-22).
It was left to Tony Cowley to mop up the tail and his figures of 3-13 from 12 overs sent the visitors crashing to 95 all out.
Ian Hardwick fell soon after the restart but teenager Adam Westmacott and Nick Powell added 54 for the second wicket to leave Badsey firmly on control.
Powell finally fell for 18 but Westmacott steered the hosts home only to be denied a half-century by two runs when the winning runs were struck with eight wickets and plenty of overs remaining.
