PERSHORE'S fire crew is getting into the carnival spirit by opening their station to the public for the Bank Holiday Monday event.
Members of the team will be greeting visitors on May 30 to explain more about their job.
Carnival committee chairman Dave Shaw said he was glad to see the fire station playing its part in the carnival celebrations. "It is great to see them getting involved, their open days are always really popular."
This year's carnival has a nautical theme, with the town being dubbed Pershore-on-Sea for the day. Highlights of the event include a procession, which leaves the Brandy Cask riverside garden at 1pm, Pershore's first asparagus market, craft fair, radio roadshow, stalls, dog show, vintage vehicles, marching bands, games and much more.
Mr Shaw said he was also pleased by the number of girls who had put themselves forward to be Carnival Princess.
"We have had nine entries, so it is going to be a difficult task to pick just one."
Volunteers are still needed to help the event run smoothly on the day. To lend a hand call Mr Shaw on 077440899694.
