A WYRE Forest club for people "in the prime of their life" has been relaunched and is inviting new members to join.

The Hartlebury Young at Heart Club, for over-55s, meets every second and fourth Tuesday at 2.15pm in the Parish Hall, Waresley Road.

It replaces the Darby and Joan group and promises to give people the opportunity to "meet old friends and make new ones".

About 20 regulars, who pay an annual fee to join, already enjoy the club, which is run in conjunction with the WRVS.

For a small fee for each meeting, members enjoy a host of events, including visits from speakers and trips.

A talk by veteran journalist, Tony Bishop, is among events planned for the near future, along with excursions to Evesham and Charlton House Farm.

Members are also looking forward to a chat with antiques dealer, David Parker, "who will be giving advice on what to keep and what to throw away".

The group's president, Shane Green, encouraging people to join, said: "Why be lonely at home when you can be enjoying yourself?"

Anyone interested in joining can call the WRVS on 0845 601 4670.
