THREE goals in four first half minutes decided the destiny of the Birdseye Sports Evesham and District Sunday League first division title.

Moreton Wanderers needing to win to complete a League and Cup double found the Red Horse in determined mood, seeking the victory that would ensure runners-up spot.

The hosts had the better of the early exchanges at Littleton and the deadlock was broken just before the half-hour mark when Nathan Flint's free kick-crept under the body of Moreton's keeper Andrew Herbert.

Two minutes later, Matt Staley finished superbly and shortly afterwards the same player headed home a cross. Red Horse keeper Micky Harris pulled off a superb acrobatic save to deny Wanderers a lifeline and that proved crucial when Staley was pulled back by a defender and he completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot.

Substitute Lee Oxley reduced the arrears with 20 minutes remaining and there were several close calls in Harris's goalmouth before the final whistle was greeted with cheers from the watching Ambassador players who were crowned champions.

Peopleton added the Evesham Mechanical Services Subsidiary Cup to their second division title triumph with victory over Mountinneers on Sunday evening.

The Mount struck first after ten minutes when Andy Morse headed them in front. A free-kick from Andy Brant levelled matters at the interval but Peopleton took control in the second half and it was no surprise when Gary Hughes made it 2-1.

The win was secured with a superb strike from Keith Davies 15 minutes from time.

Hampton WMC completed their third division programme when they secured runners-up spot to clinch a second successive promotion with victory at Ashton.

Mark Young netted a treble to follow a midweek win over champions Bretforton Old Boys.
