THERE was a happy ending to the ''tail'' for the owners of Staffordshire bull terrier Gemma after she was stolen nearly two weeks ago.
The Advertiser reported last week how eight-month-old Gemma was taken from Liz Kortbeek and her family, of Hampton Close, Woodrow.
The dog had escaped from her house but had been caught by a neighbour.
However, she was then stolen by a youth who convinced the neighbour he knew where the dog lived. Red Staffordshire bull terriers are a rare breed and much sought after and the family feared they would never see her again.
But a week later, a Matchborough woman contacted Mrs Kortbeek to say she had bought the dog for £75 off a man.
Mrs Kortbeek said: "We're just so grateful to have Gemma back with us. We're not letting her out of our sight
"The woman apparently bought her from a man in the street who said she was too much hard work to look after.
"Anyway, we're just glad to get her back.
"I'm getting our gate fixed immediately!"
