BIDFORD'S Darby and Joan Club celebrated its 50th birthday on Friday.
Thanks to a legacy from former supporter Ada Roberts Leach, who left the club £3,000 in her will, 88 guests enjoyed a supper and entertainment at the Crawford Memorial Hall.
Betty Langston has helped organise three big birthday parties for the club and says she hopes someone else will take over before the next one.
Mrs Langston loves to see people enjoy themselves and reaps the rewards of her labours with every event.
The club was formed by Nellie Docherty, Irene Rand and Mary Murray.
Members meet every week with a monthly coach trip during summer months.
Mrs Langston joined 35 years ago and organised celebrations for the 25th and 40th anniversaries.
