MEMBERS from the Derby and Joan Club in Bidford celebrated their 50th birthday at the Crawford Hall.

The party was held thanks to the generosity of Ada Roberts-Leach, a former member who left a sum of money to the club enabling them to hold the event.

Betty Langston along with 16 other helpers arranged the evening of music and entertainment last Friday.

Mrs Langston club organiser said: "Everyone enjoyed themselves and thanks to the team effort made by all the helpers the evening was super."

Les William a comedian from Leicester provided the entertainment and lounge music was provided by David Summers.

Mrs Langston, aged 76 added: "It was nice to see everyone having a wonderful time. It really was a great night."

The village Derby and Joan club was founded in 1955 by Mary Murray, Irene Rand and Nellie Doherty.
