WHERE were you Evesham? On Saturday, April 16 Avonbank Brass Band, conducted by Alan MacRae produced a brilliant evening of well-chosen, well-performed music.

It was an evening of toe-tapping hand-clapping music dedicated to the memory of their president Roger Spragg who died in December 2004. The opening music was aptly called The President by William German.

The programme included several pieces which were Roger's favourites, particularly The Lion King and Miller Magic.

The Avonbank training band produced a good performance and showed a big improvement since their last appearance. They are given a great deal of support by the Seniors and are conducted by Gordon Lane.

Avonbank Brass Band's autumn concert on November 6 with a special guest appearance of David Thornton of Black Dyke Mills Brass Band, but who needs a special guest when they already have Ellie King (promoted from the training band) flugel horn soloist, Stephen Lane cornet soloist, Nigel Hall euphonium soloist, a quartet of horn players led by Carole Smith not to mention Tim Gutteridge (tucked away at the back) on percussion. Avonbank thank you for a fab evening. Our names are already on the seat for November 6.
