A NEW vehicle donated to the County Air Ambulance will help to save lives in an area including Worcestershire and Herefordshire.
The charity, which covers 8,000 square miles in the West Midlands, has three helicopters, based at RAF Cosford, in Shropshire, Strensham in Worcestershire and the East Midlands Airport, Nottingham.
Land vehicles allow back-up paramedics and crew to attend incidents, which is vital in ensuring patients get to hospital within the 'golden hour', increasing survival by up to 40 per cent.
The new 4 x 4 Land Rover Freelander, donated by J V Like and Sons, of Powys, is now the charity's emergency response vehicle for the RAF Cosford base.
"The new vehicle has become a real asset," said Cosford's air operations manager, Ian Clayton.
