A TEENAGER accused of an assault in Upton has been banned from the town at night.

Tony Bennett, aged 19, is accused of racially-aggravated assault relating to an alleged incident near a mobile kebab van on Friday, April 8.

The case at Worcester Magistrates' Court was adjourned until Monday, June 6.

Bennett, of Croftfield, Bushley, was released on condition that he does not communicate with prosecution witnesses, stays away from the kebab van and stays out of Upton between 7pm and 7am.

FIREFIGHTERS from Upton were called to deal with a petrol spillage between junctions seven and eight on the M5 at 3pm on Sunday.

A CAR boot sale takes place on the Sports Field in Upton on Sunday (May 15), from 11am to 4pm. Organised by the town's tourism and trade association, it will raise funds for the water festival.

MEADOWSWEET will perform a concert at Upton Baptist Church hall on Thursday, May 19, at 7.30pm. They will be supported by the Cambrian Ensemble. Tickets are £5, with proceeds going to Upton in Bloom, from 01684 592336.

A CHEESE and wine party will be held at Earls Croome Village Hall on Friday, May 20 at 7.30pm. Entry is £4 (£3 concs), with proceeds going to hall funds.

THE Barflys will play at a blues cruise on the MV Conway Castle in Upton. The event, at 7.30pm on Friday, May 20, will raise money for the town's blues festival in July. Tickets are £8 from The Anchor or on 01684 592146.

UPTON Garden Club will hold its annual sale of plants and cakes at the Memorial Hall on Saturday, May 21, from 10am to noon.

BINGO takes place at Upton's Talbot Head Hotel on Monday (May 16) to raise funds for the water festival. The event kicks-off at 7.30pm.

UPTON Town Council will meet at the Memorial Hall on Tuesday (May 17) at 7pm.
