Nearly 100,000 people are expected to visit the Malvern Spring Gardening Show.

The three-day event gets underway today (Friday) and is the first major show of the year at the Three Counties Showground.

Celebrity gardeners, show gardens and a massive floral marquee are just some of the huge range of attractions.

Sharon Gilbert, of the Three Counties Agricultural Society, said: "We had 93,000 visitors last year, so we'd at least like to match that.

"The weather's glorious, everybody's in good spirits and the marquee's looking wonderful."

She said visitors should look out for the new garden design theatre - a state-of-the-art marquee with plasma screens inside.

Celebrities, including Alan Titchmarsh, will be answering questions and giving advice at the venue.

Alan is at the show all day today (Friday), with Chris Beardshaw running a special plant doctor session on Sunday and James Alexander Sinclair here for all three days.

Monty Don and Joe Swift have been filming a special edition of BBC Gardeners' World from the show since Wednesday. This will be broadcast on BBC 2 tonight (Friday), at 8pm.

While people from all over the country enjoy the show, local groups will be making some money by helping out. Coaches, parents and children from Malvern Hills Gymnastics Club will be organising parking, while Malvern Sea Cadets are running a plant crche, looking after plants for visitors who continue to look around the show.

The Malvern Spring Gardening Show runs today, Saturday and Sunday, from 9am to 6pm. Tickets, available at the showground, are £12.50 to £15. Admission is free for children under 15.
