IT is all very well Ledbury winning Fairtrade status but I do think more people should be aware that the mission of fair trade organisations is to maximise sales for the primary producers of products, regardless of wider ethical considerations. In my opinion, it is not socially responsible to use the cause of helping people out of poverty as a means to sell products full of sugar, salt, caffeine and other ingredients linked to obesity and a myriad of health problems.
