NEWTOWN SPORTS COLTS U14S 10, WORCESTER RAIDERS 0

NEWTOWN Sports Colts hosted Worcester Raiders last Friday evening to resume their exhaustive end to the season.

Newtown took the game to the Raiders with Powell, Allison, Jaye, Caffull and Newell featuring well in midfield. Allison opened the scoring after five minutes when his cross-shot fooled the Raiders keeper and found the corner of the net. Try as they might, the Raiders found Roskams, White and Scullion too strong in the Newtown defence, and so Newtown retained much of the possession. Caffull added a second with a cool finish and Newell a third with a terrific shot. Newtown played some great passing football from the back and created numerous chances before Caffull and Buckle increased the lead further. The pattern of the game continued in the second half, with substitute Hale grabbing a hat-trick and Edwards adding to the tally. Elmes also had a chance to add to his season's tally but his shot went over the bar. Johnson rounded off the scoring when Crane, who had a great game, played him in to finish neatly for the biggest cheer of the match.

NEWTOWN SPORTS COLTS U14S 9, WELLAND JUNIORS 0

NEWTOWN Sports Colts entertained Welland on a blustery, chilly day last Sunday.

Playing with the breeze, Newtown dominated the early proceedings but could not take advantage of some great crosses and corners from Edwards, who had a storming game on the left. Allison, Caffull, Jaye, Newell and Edwards had a majority of the possession for Newtown, but it took a penalty to break the deadlock. Following another great corner, the goal-ward bound shot was handled on the line, Allison converted the penalty. Welland responded stoutly, but Newtown pressed for more goals, though they could only manage one more through Crane before half-time. The second-half got under way after a torrential hail storm, with Powell and Scullion coming on for Newtown. Within a few minutes, Buckle found the net for Newtown which triggered an onslaught. Edwards struck with a fine shot, Crane completed his hat-trick, Allison hit a trade-mark scorcher and Elmes grabbed a rare goal before Scullion finished off with another penalty, after the influential Crane had been fouled in the box.

BROMYARD TOWN U13 GIRLS 2,

EVESHAM UNITED U13 GIRLS 4

BROMYARD U13 Girls' lost out to Evesham in their last home game of the season in the Mercian League.

Before the match, just one point separated the two sides with Evesham having the advantage. Bromyard began the first-half with a series of promising attacks, however it was Evesham who took the lead as the Town defence showed a lapse in concentration.

Bromyard soon equalised when midfielder Tasha Merris calmly lobbed the keeper from just inside the box. Both defences though looked shaky and it was no surprise when Evesham slotted in a second goal.

At the beginning of the second period Bromyard nearly fell further behind, however excellent goal keeping by Sarah Holman again kept Evesham at bay. Bromyard pulled level with Tasha Merris again the scorer.

In midfield for Bromyard, Grace Rogers played one of her best games of the season, and in attack Cassey Lewis worked hard.

Evesham, with the slope in their favour, took advantage and netted two before the final whistle. The last goal from an excellent header from a corner kick.

Bromyard travel to bottom-of-the-table Worcester for their final game with manager Dean James looking for a win to end the season on a high.

MALVERN TOWN WANDERERS COLTS U10S 1, DROITWICH SPA ROVERS U10S 3

MALVERN took a few minutes to settle into this match and Droitwich were able to score an early goal.

This galvanised the home team into good attacking play with Brent Gibbs, Harry Tawse and Joel Wright working well together, but being just unable to score.

Malvern went into the second-half 2-0 down, but Brent Gibbs soon scored from a well-aimed shot taken almost at the half-way line. Stan Mason was unlucky not to score from some confident play. A third goal was scored, despite good defence throughout from Brandon Hudson and Max Howie, and the usual reliable performance from Pete Shepherd in goal. The persistent and hard-working Josh Seabourne just went wide of the post in the closing minutes.

The Malvern side again showed their improved form with a reduced goal difference since the last time the two teams met.
