WORCESTERSHIRE could complete a Derbyshire double today.

The New Road side have the Frizzell County Championship Division Two basement boys in trouble after a professional bowling display yesterday.

Set 329 to escape the follow-on, the visitors needed a seventh-wicket stand of 62 by Graeme Welch (29) and Ant Botha (43) to reach 260-9, still 218 behind.

Chaminda Vaas and Kabir Ali shared six wickets after the County had added 478 with double centurion Stephen Moore finally out for 246.

Tom Moody's men beat Derbyshire by 10 wickets earlier in the season and a similar looking result looks likely if Worcestershire can press home their advantage today.

Moore hit 33 fours and a six in his 246, the highest score by a Worcestershire batsman in 133 first-class matches with Derbyshire, and shared in a ninth-wicket partnership of 173 with James Pipe.

Wicketkeeper Pipe followed his aggressive instinct to stay unbeaten with 80, including 12 fours, from 124 balls.

Paul Havell quickly accounted for last man Matt Mason, but Michael Di Ventuto's simple catch at mid-off was not a prelude to better luck for the Australian after dropping Moore on day one. He was lbw to Vaas from the first ball of Derbyshire's reply.

Vaas and Kabir benefited from skilful rotation by captain Vikram Solanki during Derbyshire's initial slump to 144-6.

Kabir accounted for Steve Stubbings, offering no shot, and Jon Moss, caught at second slip, while Vaas returned to break a stand of 54 by dismissing Hassan Adnan (35) and Chris Bassano (32).

Kabir then claimed his third success when Graeme Hick held Sutton's edge to second slip, but Worcestershire were forced to explore an alternative avenue before Mason dislodged Welch.

Kevin Dean became Mason's next victim, edging to Pipe after making 11, and Gareth Batty ended Botha's defiance.

A stubborn last-wicket stand by Hunter and Havell was eventually ended today when Kabir caught and bowled. This left Worcestershire with a a first innings lead of 215 and they enforced the follow-on.
