TALES of northern England's mining culture in song will be coming to Stourport's Riverside Folk and Acoustic Club as Jez Lowe and the Bad Pennies comes to town.
Jez is best known for his songs describing the mining culture, society and people of his native north-east England.
The musician, born to a coal mining family with Irish routes, is a busy performer in high demand, with annual tours to the United States and Canada and frequent tours to Australia and New Zealand.
He is Durham's composer in residence and has often been commissioned to write songs chronicling important events which have taken place locally.
And his band, The Bad Pennies, have been one of the high points on the British and international folk scene for more than a decade, touring as far afield as the USA, Canada, and Australia in the last 18 months
They are due on stage at the venue tonight and tickets are £6.
