WORCESTERSHIRE are on course to complete a Frizzell County Championship Division Two 'double' over Derbyshire at New Road.

After following on 215 behind, the bottom-of-the-table visitors were all out for 314 to leave the hosts 100 to win when they launched their victory bid today.

Derbyshire, who lost by 10 wickets at home to Worcestershire in their opening match of the season, made an uncertain start to their second innings when Steve Stubbings was trapped leg by paceman Matt Mason for seven.

Michael Di Venuto, however, cracked six fours and a six in a battling 51.

He put on 69 in 24 overs with fellow Australian Jon Moss, who soon lost the companionship of Hassan Adnan and Chris Bassano.

Moss continued to prosper and figured in a partnership of 64 with Luke Sutton before holing out to deep mid-on off England spinner Gareth Batty. He had struck 11 fours off 156 balls.

Sutton and Graeme Welch then took over centre stage in a defiant partnership which helped Derbyshire wipe out their deficit in the 65th over.

Their fortunes, however, nose-dived when Mason ripped out both batsmen in the space of four deliveries.

Sutton went for 45 followed by Welch for 63. They had put on 88 in 22 overs.

Kevin Dean, Ian Hunter and Paul Havell then fell quickly to leave Ant Botha undefeated on 29.

Mason 3-34, Vaas 3-85, Kabir 2-69 and Batty 2-61 shared the Derby wickets.
