A WOLF-whistling parrot stolen from a Worcester-shire garden centre has yet to be traced.

Staff at St Peter's Garden Centre at Norton, near Worcester, arrived at work on Thursday, May 5, to discover that Barney, an African Grey, had been taken. The bird is valued at about £2,000.

Assistant manager Charli Stallard said everyone was devastated and she believed the number of customers had dropped as a result of the talkative bird not being there.

"It's been awful because we've had customers in tears," she said. "It's just so different without him being here because he obviously brought in a lot of people to see us. We don't know what is going to happen as time goes on."

Seven-year-old Barney is grey, with a bright red tail and answers to his name.

The break-in at the garden centre happened some time between 6pm on Wednesday, May 4, and 7am on Thurs-day, May 5.

Anyone with information about Barney should call either 08457 444888, quoting 31C/050505 or St Peter's Garden Centre, on 01905 357595.
