Trego shared in a third-wicket partnership of 84 with Chris Boroughs (76), while his fifth-wicket stand with Richard Hall (28) also yielded 96.
Shropshire responded well as openers Chris Martin (43) and Andy Gray (51) put on 94 for the first wicket, while Gary Fellows (60) also impressed.
But wickets fell regularly and the visitors eventually crashed to 260 all out. Boroughs picked up 4-46, while Trego and Simon Roberts returned 2-44 and 2-42 respectively.
