WORCESTERSHIRE heaped more misery on basement boys Nottinghamshire with their second totesport League win of the season.

Ray Price led the County to a 16-run victory in Division One as they successfully defended a flimsy looking total of 190 at New Road.

The Zimbabwean performed a one-day spinning masterclass to frustrate the visitors, picking up 4-21 as Notts succumbed to their fourth straight defeat in this competition.

The visitors were on the back foot after Chaminda Vaas bagged two early wickets and, when Price bowled Jason Gallian in his first over, the writing was on the wall.

The slow left-armer then had former Worcestershire batsman Anurag Singh caught sweeping for 18 and the Outlaws eventually slumped to 174 all out with one ball to spare.

It was just as well that the bowlers, used intelligently by skipper Vikram Solanki, came to the fore after an up-and-down batting display. The County got off to a flyer, with a depleted Notts attack struggling with wides, but were soon pegged back by regular wickets.

Solanki (9) clattered two boundaries before edging to slip while Stephen Moore's fleeting innings of 16 followed in the same vein.

Graeme Hick came in to blast his way to 21 but, after misjudging a ball and cutting to backward point, Worcestershire found themselves struggling on 86-3.

With Ben Smith (9) and David Leatherdale (3) also disappointing the home crowd and the Sky Sports viewers, it was left to South African Zander de Bruyn to steer Tom Moody's men to a respectable total.

The South African was restricted to only three fours in his 62 from 110 balls before he was lbw, trying to hit over mid-wicket in Graeme Swann's second spell.

Gareth Batty helped de Bruyn put on 68 but he was run out for 44 by Andrew Harris' return from deep midwicket and Harris then mopped up at the end to finish with 4-41.
