n How did we manage before we had "Asylum Seekers" to do the muddy and back-breaking work in this country?
I did labouring jobs on farms in this area most years between 1940 and 1955.
We had Ukrainian so-called "cossacks", Poles and East-German ex-POW's, Italians, Irish, gipsies who had recently abandoned caravans and settled in Worcester.
Folk like myself who were picked up by lorries touring Tolladine and Ronkswood in the early mornings.
Don't say we used to manage without immigrants.
Ask the Cassidys, the Lannies, the Mezzones and the Cappoldis where their great-grandparents came from.
Or look at the Honours Board in the Grammar School and spot the foreign names.
