May 8 was probably one of the most significant dates in recent history.
Yet why is it then that 10 years ago we were given a bank holiday, in 2002 we were given two days for the Queens Jubilee and for the millennium we had an extra bank holiday as well.
Due to the recent election one could be forgiven for not taking much notice of VE Day, yet if it were not for VE Day we may not even be voting! Why is it that we have not got a bank holiday?
It is 60 years since the end of WW2, and despite events being organised nothing has been done in terms of a day off!
Come on folks, is it not about time this date remained in history forever at all costs, probably via a bank holiday; after all we do have the least amount of bank holidays across Europe.
Despite contrary belief, I can assure anyone who fought in WW1 or WW2 that we will never forget what you gave to us - our future, our lives and our freedom of today.
I will personally make sure that all of my future children will grow up with this remembrance; even if we don't get a bank holiday!
