A DROITWICH resident is so disgusted with how rundown the estate he lives on has become that he has compiled a photo album of its decay and rubbish.

Martin Griffin, who has lived on the Westlands for five years, said he has watched it fall into decline. He has now put 30 pictures of the mess on a website.

"This photo album was created to highlight how in the last few years Westlands Estate has become so rundown," reads the homepage at www.west lands.myphotoalbum.com

Photographs under the headings 'decay' and 'rubbish' taken over the last couple of weeks show washing machines, fridges, sofas and a mattress dumped around the estate, and graffiti over walls and garages.

Martin asks anyone who knows of more 'eyesores' in the area to e-mail him.

But he does acknowledge that work is being done to rejuvenate the estate and has posted two photographs under the heading 'on-going improvements'.

But Coun Roy Seabourne, also a member of the Westlands Forum, said Mr Griffin had exaggerated.

"We have a small problem with drinking and drugs and anti-social behaviour like all estates," he said.

"But £10m has been spent over the last five years enhancing the area - there is only one part left that has not been modernised.

"I have also just obtained £5,000 a year for the next three years to improve the community centre.

Not all areas on the website come under the council's remit, said waste management officer for Wychavon District Council, Mark Edwards.

"We carry out scheduled cleansing of the estate on footpaths and roads and we clear fly-tipping," he said.

A litter-pick around the Westlands Estate starts tomorrow at Westlands Community Centre in Meadow Way at 10am.

make sure our cleaning schedules are sufficient we urge residents and users of the estate to play their part "too and help us to keep the area clean."Refreshments will be provided.
