Police have warned homeowners not to let the warmer weather tempt them into leaving doors and windows open after jewellery and money was stolen from homes.

In one incident, three rings and a watch were taken from

a house in Field Close, Blackpole, Worcester, some time between midnight on Thursday, May 12, and 7am the following day.

Police say there was no evidence of forced entry.

Worcester police would like to hear from people who saw anyone acting suspiciously in the vicinity at the time. Witnesses can contact police on 08457 444888, quoting incident number 149C/1305050.

In another incident, burglars stole a handbag from a home in Greenhill Drive, Malvern, on Saturday night.

The brown leather oblong bag, with long handles, contained a purse with bank cards, £20 and some loose cash, a cheque book, address book, keys and a mobile phone.

Anyone who saw anything suspicious in the area or knows the whereabouts of the items is asked to call Malvern Police on 08457 444888, quoting incident number 167C/150505.

Police said warmer weather meant householders sometimes overlooked normal security arrangements.

"Of course it's tempting to have doors and windows open in the warm weather - but that makes it doubly important to check they are securely locked again in the evening and whenever the householder goes out," said a spokesman.
