TENBURY Wells-based Rosie Thomas made the line-up at the Osberton International Horse Trials.

The one-day event in Nottinghamshire attracted riders from several nations.

Thomas finished 10th in one of two international CIC** sections on offer, riding her 16.3hh chestnut Barry's Best.

She had only recently returned to action after breaking her collarbone in a fall at Gatcombe one-day event last month when Barry's Best slipped up on the flat.

"I'm fine now and Osberton was my horse's first two-star event," said Thomas. "I was pleased with his dressage mark of 57 and he jumped a good clear cross-country.

"It was a nice course but had some quite narrow fences and tight turns, and was the hardest my horse had attempted -- he coped well."

The pair had two down in the show jumping phase, which cost them a possible fourth spot.

Thomas broke Barry's Best in for his owner/breeders as a five-year-old -- a task that was "not easy".

"The owners then wanted to sell him and I started to compete him at pre-novice level for them," Thomas said.

"I began to realise he was really nice and was offered him at a price I couldn't refuse."

The horse has been with her since coming up through the ranks and finishing eighth at the one-star Weston Park three-day event last autumn.

Thomas was also 15th in the Osberton CIC** on the 16.3hh dark bay The Jaywalker, riding for Bromyard owner Emma Marrs.

"He did a much better dressage test. We've worked hard at this phase all winter and it was the nicest test he's done to date," Thomas added. "Unfortunately, he had three show jumps down."

Both horses will be aimed at the Windsor International three-day event later this month and Thomas is currently looking for a sponsor.
