AS construction begins for this year's Chelsea Flower Show, builders merchant Buildbase is supplying the materials for a show garden in honour of VE Day.
Buildbase, of Navigation Road, Diglis Trading Estate, Worcester, is providing everything to construct the garden "A soldier's dream of Blighty". The firm was awarded the coveted BBC RHS People's Award last year.
and will once again be working with garden designer Julian Dowle.
The garden, set in 1945, commemorates the 60th anniversary of the end of World War II. The British soldiers often had fond thoughts of home and it is this nostalgia that has inspired the garden.
It will consist of a 'Dig for Victory' vegetable garden, welcome home bunting, a traditional thatched English pub, and village green planted with up to 5000 predominantly red solider poppies.
