FARMERS will be putting their skills to the test in a whole range of competitions ranging from tug-of-war to

floral art in Malvern this

weekend.

Worcestershire Young Farmers are celebrating all the skills and rewards of rural life at their popular annual show at the town's Three Counties Showground on Saturday, May 21. Forty competitions will be taking place on the day.

More than 200 young farmers will be taking part in activities such as silk painting, art and winemaking, as well as demonstrating more practical skills such as cookery, cake decorating and poultry boning. Among the other competitions taking place are floral art, cheerleading, metalwork and photography.

"It's a fantastic day and a really good showcase for anyone who wants to see the rural use of the countryside and the young farmers doing what they do best," said Worcestershire Young Farmers administrator Helen Sykes.

The show has been running since 1937 and runs this year from 8.30am to about 4pm.

Entry is via the brown gate in Hanley Road and admission is £3. For more information, telephone 01905 621616.
