THE memory of Bromsgrove Rovers player Ashley Read, who passed away three years ago, was celebrated at a tournament in his honour over the weekend.
Hoolihans captain Richard Troff was presented with the Ashley Read Memorial Shield on Sunday for the first time, after his side had defeated Bromsgrove Athletico 5-4 at the Victoria Ground in the final.
Read was a popular player at the club, before he was tragically killed in a car accident in 2002.
Organiser Helen Jones hopes the tournament will get even bigger and better in the years to come.
She said: "It was a great day. Ashley was really loved by everyone down at the club and this was a nice way of saying he'll never be forgotten.
"Hopefully the tournament will get even bigger and better next year."
The event also raised £1,100, which Ashley's family have donated to Rovers' fund-raising committee.
