A SHAKE-UP at Worcestershire County Council will see three new faces take top positions.

Councillors John Smith, Stephen Clee and Philip Gretton are set to be included in a new seven-person Conser-vative cabinet at County Hall.

The changes come as the authority undergoes a major restructuring, including the abolition of education and social services to be replaced by a children's and community services directorates.

Council leader Dr George Lord, whose Conservative group secured an overall majority at the elections, said: "What this is about is having powerful team that will create the best services for the people of the county - we are elected to deliver the best."

Coun Smith, who represents Evesham North West, will be responsible for environment, Coun Clee, serving Chaddesley, east of Kidderminster, will be responsible for corporate services and Redditch South's Coun Gretton will take on the community services portfolio.

Coun Lord said he was 'disappointed' the cabinet would not include any opposition members after Labour opted out.
