Ombersley 309-3 Droitwich Spa 203-8

Ombersley obtain a winning draw

OMBERSLEY edged fierce derby rivals Droitwich in a tense match in the Worcester League Division One on Saturday.

Droitwich's inconsistent form continued against a confident Ombersley side which has yet to taste defeat in the league.

Duncan Catterall continued his excellent form for Ombersley, hitting 141 as his side reached 309-9.

Droitwich though were not about to give in and Josh Staines (36), Gary Cartwright (34) and Paul Bryan (52) put Spa in a healthy position.

However, a middle order batting collapse saw Droitwich battling to hang on for a share of the points.

Droitwich captain Steve Walsh said: "I've never been in a side which has conceded over 300 runs. It wasn't a nice experience.

"All credit to Ombersley, Duncan Catterall is in a league of his own.

"But we didn't bowl very well and it certainly wasn't good enough."

Droitwich take on bottom side Brockhampton at home on Saturday, while Ombersley go to Luctonians (both matches 1.30pm start).

* Chaddesley Corbett's poor run of results in Division One went on as they suffered a losing draw against Stourbridge on Saturday.

Stourbridge made 185-9, before Corbett reached 183-8 in reply.
