BADSEY comfortably overcame Saturday's Worcester-shire County League visitors Cleobury Mortimer on an afternoon when all the top order home batsmen excel-led.

Skipper Dave Powell won the toss and then watched as his batters piled on the runs on the superb track at Ballards Park.

Ian Hardwick (51) and Adam Westmancott (21) added 51 for the first wicket and the next five batsmen also reached double figures with Tony Cowley (36) and his captain plundering 50 runs off seven overs for the fourth wicket.

The visitors fought back and took the last five wickets for 67 runs as the innings closed on 232 all out.

Sam Thomson and Nick Pow-ell bowled fine spells after tea when Cleobury reduced the arrears by 32 off the opening ten overs.

It was Jamie Paul who made the significant breakthrough when taking two wickets in the same over when Westmancott also instigated a run out.

That proved the end of the road for the visitors who battled on bravely with Jones end- ing unbeaten on 35 but it was Cowley who capped a fine all-round show with four wickets in his side's 89-run success.
