YEAR 7 pupils from St Egwin's and Bredon Middle Schools have been shooting for the top thanks to an initiative organised by Prince Henry's High School.
The Evesham school organised a series of six basketball sessions taken by Rob Clarke from Worcester Wolves.
The final session ended with a mixed tournament when the standard of play was exceptionally high and all the players received certificates in recognition of their efforts.
The court sessions came about thanks to the South Worcestershire Schools Sports Partnership that is part of the national strategy and funded by the Govern-ment to raise standards in PE and school sport.
The schools involved within the partnership consist of the 46 First and Middle Schools that feed into Prince Hen-ry's, Evesham and Pershore High Schools.
As part of the programme, one member of staff in each secondary school has a two-day release to co-ordinate PE and school sport within their family of schools.
One of the key strategic aims of this programme is centred around school liaison and the time on the basketball and help from Worcester Wolves made this particular aspect of the system a success.
