BROMSGROVE School pupil Claudia Cardinali smashed her own school record at the National IAPS Swimming Finals last week.

Cardinali won the under-10s 25 metres backstroke final in Wolverhampton, breaking the record for the third time this year.

Cardinali was also the first individual female pupil from the school to win a race in four years.

Over a hundred schools from up-and-down the country competed at the finals.

Only the top twelve girls in each race were invited to take part.

Cardinali's school mates also produced strong performances, with Rebecca Straw finishing sixth in the under-10s 25m freestyle.

Rebecca Storey was tenth in the under-13s 50m freestyle event.

The under-10s relay team of Cardinali, Katherine Keates, Straw and Bethan Luckman broke the school record by four seconds to finish seventh.

Harriet Matthews then joined Cardinali, Straw and Luckman to set another school record in the 4x25m freestyle relay.
