OLD favourites join up-and-coming fighters on an exciting looking line-up for Droitwich Amateur Boxing Club's special fight night at Stoke Prior Sports and Country Club on May 20.

Welterweight Michael Pardoe and lightweight Anthony Bonehill are set to make their returns at the evening of exhibition fighting after long injury lay-off.

Pardoe has been one of DABC's most successful fighters in recent years, winning the National Schools Championships in 2002.

In-form heavyweight Dave Jenvey leads the club's new breed, including middleweight Alex Strutt, on the night.

Coach Chris Andrews said: "It's great to have some of the best fighters from the last few years on the same bill as the new fighters.

"It's bound to be an exciting evening, with plenty of good boxing."

The club's fighters are ending the season on a high after winning seven of the last eight bouts.

At a charity dinner tournament in Worcester DABC fighters won five out of six fights.

Jenvey avenged defeat at the hands of Lydney fight Joe Brookes earlier in the season by defeating him.

Juniors Robin McDermott, aged 16, Will Evans, 16, Mike Mongan, 15, and Tom Green, 15, all won well.

Sean Donnelly, aged 15, was Droitwich's solitary loser.

However, Donellly got his own back on his victor a week later at another charity dinner tournament in Worcester by beating him.

James Evans, aged 12, out pointed Rugeley's Lee Adams.

Boxing on Friday is set to start at 8.30pm, with tickets costing £7 for adults and £4 for children. Tickets are available on the door.
