Prudden Road Surfacing League

CHAMPIONS Stratford B pulled further away after the latest round of Premier Division action that saw only the leaders record a victory.

The Swan's Nest Lane club had braced themselves for a tough match against one of their closest rivals Inkberrow but the visitors were only able to push the B team to three sets in one rubber.

Top pair Callum Bailey and Rob Slatter overcame Chris Baker and Adam Hill in straight sets 6-1, 7-6 and then got the better of the Graeme Rankin and Alex Wood-bridge 6-3, 6-4.

Second Stratford pair Tim Page and Simon West accounted for Rankin and Woodbridge 6-3, 6-3, but were taken to a third set before overcoming Baker and Hill 6-7, 6-3, 6-0.

That result gave Chipping Camp-den the chance to pull clear of Inkberrow to claim second spot on their own and this they did albeit only by virtue of a draw against an improved Stratford C side.

Campden captain Ken Dawson and partner Mark Adams began comfortably with a 6-2, 6-2 win over Richard Monk and Mark Parsons before an even easier victory over Felix Adler and Tom Innes 6-0, 6-2.

Second pair Rolf Wilson and Mark Kirkbride continued their recent poor form going down to both Stratford pairs - 7-6, 4-6, 1-6, to Adler and Innes and 4-6, 4-6 to Monk and Parsons.

Other results - Claverdon 2, Studley 2: Pieter Van-Hengel & James Courier (Claverdon) bt Gary Jackson & Paul Challons 2-6, 6-2, 6-2 & Chris McGregor & Chris Hughes 6-3, 6-2. Nigel Bacon & Andy Williams lost to McGregor & Hughes 7-5, 4-6, 3-6 & Jackson & Challons 4-6, 1-6.

Littleton 2, Henley 2: Dave Holland & Matt Ross (Henley) bt John Fielder & Chris Elliott 6-4, 6-2 & Sean Witheford & Richard Herborn 7-6, 4-6, 6-3. Julian Morris & Stefan Wolf lost to Witheford & Herborn 1-6, 4-6 & Fielder & Elliott 2-6, 6-1, 3-6.

Moreton-in-Marsh maintained winning ways in the third division after a 3-1 win over Henley B.

Studley's 3-1 defeat of Littleton left the duo in second and third places respectively,, while Ship-ston won for the first time 4-0 over Bidford.

The new teams in Division Four enjoyed only their second week of their season and it is beginning to look like it will be a close-fought tussle for honours.

Snitterfield stay top despite being held to a draw by Ardencote but are joined at the summit by Har-bury and Whitnash who defeated Ullenhall 4-0 and Claverdon C 3-1 respectively.
