THE historic landscape of Croome Park, near Upton-upon-Severn, provided inspiration for watercolour painters, under the guidance of Worcester artist David Birtwhistle.

Fourteen visitors keen to paint the landscape designed by Capability Brown were able to benefit from the experience of Mr Birtwhistle, when he hosted a special watercolour tuition day.

"We had a very successful day. We were very lucky with the weather and the park was looking particularly beautiful," he said.

"I think everyone in Worcestershire should come and look at it."

Mr Birtwhistle's paintings of Croome are currently on show at Worcester City Art Gallery in the Treasures of Croome Revealed exhibition, which runs until Saturday, July 9.

The show includes previously unseen paintings, furniture and decorative arts on loan from the trustees of the Croome Estate, together with information about the National Trust's 10-year restoration programme at Croome Park.
