KIDDERMINSTER Carolians' rising star Julian Petitjean was named player of the tournament as 100 of the club's youngsters descended on Southport for the yearly festival.

Petitjean excelled as his team finished a creditable third in the competition, much to the delight of his parents, whose Brockencote Hall Hotel sponsored the tour.

"We were delighted to be involved in helping the tour to take place and even more delighted to hear that Julien had distinguished himself during the tournament," said dad Joseph.

"Our only concern now is whether with a French dad and an English mum, if he continues to show promise as he gets older, he will plump to play for England or 'Les Bleus."

The under-13s also acquitted themselves well, dusting themselves down from a heavy defeat to Liverpool Collegiate to beat Tarlatan 17-0.

Will Short was the star with two tries and a conversion, while Tom Leach also crossed the line. Other impressive performers were Artiom Enkov and George Hill.
