WYRE Forest darts fans are in for another treat with former world champion John Lowe stepping up to the oche to take on players at Hartlebury British Legion.

Lowe, who lifted the sport's top prize in 1979, 1987 and 1993, will be in town for an exhibition match on Friday May 27.

One man who will be trying his luck against the Derbyshire darter, is local professional Steve Webb who is currently in good form.

Webb, from Cutnall Green, will use his match against Lowe as part of his preparation for the Dessert Classic in Las Vegas on June 24.

"I've been practising with Terry Jenkins who is 16th in the world and I've been playing really well," said Webb, who also took on world number one Colin Lloyd in an exhibition match in town last weekend.

"I'm in my second year on the circuit now and I've done ok, but with a bit more luck with the draws I could have done much better.

"I'm confident ahead of Las Vegas and playing John Lowe should help my preparations."

Lowe's arrival is another coop for Kidderminster which recently hosted a round of the Premier Darts League featuring Lloyd, world champion Phil Taylor and darts stars Mark Dudbridge, John Part, Peter Manley, Wayne Mardle and Roland Scholten.

Tickets for the John Lowe exhibition, including a buffet, are on sale priced £6 from Macky Griffiths on 078129 40369.

Local darters Chris Hook and Matt Sheehan take part in the Budweiser UK Open at the Reebok Stadium in Bolton next month.

The Banks's Bewdley Darts League checks out at 7.30pm tomorrow with a series of finals and presentations at the headquarters at Bewdley Bowling club.

Among the finals are the team knockout and the doubles, singles and captain shields, while there will also be awards for the highest clockout of the season and the overall man of the match winner.
