CLEOBURY Mortimer firsts will fly the flag for the club in the West Midlands Ladies Volleyball Cup final - after the seconds just missed out on an all Cleobury showdown.
While the firsts overcame Tamworth by three sets to one to book their place, the seconds suffered an agonising 3-2 defeat at Telford in the other semi-final.
Current cup holders Cleobury firsts were in no mood to relinquish their grip on the trophy despite coming up against league leaders Tamworth who had beaten them twice this season.
Their player of the day was Rachel Pugh, although there were impressive performances right across the court.
Sets (Chaddesley first): won 25-21, won 25-19, lost 20-25, won 25-20.
Cleobury seconds emerged with pride, despite captain and player of the match Robyn Slingsby unable to lead them into the final.
Against a Telford team packed with National League players, Cleobury started well but faded as they game wore on.
Sets (Chaddesley first): won 14-25, lost 25-21, won 22-25, lost 25-19, lost 15-6.
