WYRE Forest athletes came home with a horde of medals from the English Federation Disability Sports Regional Athletics Competition on Sunday at the Alexander Stadium, Birmingham.
The Special Olympics Worcestershire members gained 14 gold medals, 11 silver and six bronze, including superb three-gold tallies for Ian Harper, who won the shot putt and 200m, and was part of a winning relay team), and Philip Woodyatt, who won the 100m and high jump, and was in the relay.
Gold medal winners: Steven Boyce (relay), Jamie Dancyger (800m, and relay), Jon Fox (relay), Ian Harper (shot putt, 200m, relay), Philip Woodyatt (100m, high jump, relay), David Swinbourne (shot putt, relay), Claire Andrews (long jump), Ellie Jones (50m).
Silver winners: Boyce (50m), Fox (long jump), Martin Jones (relay), Swinbourne (100m), Freddie Lowe (softball, 100m), Andrews (100m, 200m, relay), Lois Farley (softball throw, 50m).
Bronzes: Boyce (100m), Andrew Harper (softball throw, 50m), Woodyatt (400m), Swinbourne (200m), Jones (softball throw).
Also taking part were: Matthew D Jones, Richie Styles, Jack Bradley, Matthew Jones.
