PAUL Prince continued his run of good form by smashing his 13-year-old personal best time for 50 miles by 40 seconds, when he finished fourth in the Warwickshire RC's time trial, held on the Evesham by-pass.

The Wyre Forest Cycle Racing Club rider powered against a light headwind from Alcester to the turn at Bishops Cleeve and then raced back to the line to finish in one hour 56 minutes 15 seconds, to take the club's 50-mile champion title with ease.

Richard Pedersen was the second club rider to complete the course, in his first race at this distance, recording a time of t-08-09.

Gary Bartram was racing well when he took a wrong turn at 48 miles and missed out part of the course, so failed to record a time.

Joe Rowe finished 10th overall in the League of Veteran racing cyclists' three-day stage race the Tour of the Abberleys.

Day one saw Rowe and John Callaghan finishin the bunch on the four laps of the hilly Astley circuit.

Mike Hopkins retired on the third lap.The second day was a two-lap circuit from Great Witley to Martley, Broadheath, Worcester and return, when Rowe again finished in the bunch, but Callaghan retired 10 miles from the finish when an old back injury flared up.

The final day was a gruelling four-lap circuit from Great Witley to Clows Top, down to Newnham Bridge and back to Abberley via Stockton bank.

Rowe was the last remaining Wyre Forest rider. Despite his numerous attacks during the race, the bunch came back together for a final uphill sprint to Clows Top.

Rowe got into the perfect position for the final sprint for the line, but failed to have the strength in the last few minutes and finished 15th, to record a superb top 10 overall position.

John Parker made it two victories in succession when he won the second round of the club time trial competition, repeating the previous week's victory at Astley.
