THREE was the magic number for Trimpley Sailing Club as they won the Himley Hall SC 24-hour marathon sail for the third successive year.
With the charity event celebrating its 30th anniversary, Trimpley started where they had left off in previous years.
Competing against 10 other boats, the Trimpley Laser led from the start but was pushed hard for the first few hours in gusty conditions.
As the wind dropped overnight, their lightweight crews took over and guided them to victory with a two mile advantage over their nearest rival.
Over 42 miles were clocked up over 24 hours continuous saling.
The other Trimpley boat, a GP14, finished in eighth place and allowed less experienced sailors to sail on different waters and during night time conditions.
Commodore Simon Fletcher said: "The laser sailors were determined to take the trophy for a third time whereas our GP sailors enjoyed a more relaxed time in superb weather."
