STOURPORT Hockey Club's youngsters saw their impressive national cup runs come to a sad end when the girls and boys under-15s both lost in finals.

Alex Totney put the girls in from 13 minutes from time against Dunmow in their first ever under-15 plate final.

But six minutes later the Essex side equalised before breaking Stourport hearts with two more late goals to win 3-1.

The boys also fell at the final hurdle, losing 5-1 to Bromley at Bowden.

Bromley's number 13 did most of the damage, scoring all the goals, four in the first half.

Stourport's attempts were thwarted by the opposition goalkeeper with their only consolation coming from a Dan Hurley shot.

In the dying minutes of the match only an outstretched Bromley stick prevented Charlie Smith scoring.

Meanwhile, Worcestershire president Heather Linley presented awards to Stourport Ladies at the county hockey association annual meeting Old Halesonians on May 9.

Three of the Stourport ladies teams won their divisions, with at least a 10-point advantage.

The first, second and third teams also won trophies for the best defensive records in their divisions, and Teri Baron was awarded the top goalscorer in the Third Division.

Next season the first team will play in the Midland Conference, while the seconds join the Worcest-ershire First Division and the thirds will play in Worcestershire Second Division.

The club's fourth team remains in Worcestershire Third Division.
